If you’re in Canada, you may have already heard of half-Japanese, nineteen year old Justin Nozuka; he’s been on Degrassi Junior High and his brother George is a pop star in his own right. (I love how I infer that being a Canadian star means you’ve been on Degrassi Junior High.) But as a dirty American, I haven’t heard of Justin Nozuka until he was blogged on ArjanWrites. Looks like he has a video on VH-1 as well.
From the looks of it, this guy is blowing up pretty quickly – his sound has been compared to Jason Mraz or Justin Timberlake, although I hear more of a Adam Levine from Maroon 5 vibe in this streaming audio track of his track “Criminal.” And while some of his songs reflect the fact that he’s nineteen years old, his track “After Tonight” is so polished that if it isn’t played (or sold) at a Starbucks in the next three months, I’ll cry foul. But an Asian-Canadian radio friendly artist? Not such a horrible thing.
His album, Holly, is available for download at Amazon.com.
