Martin Hsu + Mongrelz!

Whatcha guys doing for the July 4th weekend? Just the same old barbecue and fireworks? Same here, except I don’t have a bbq grill and fireworks are kind of illegal.

If you’re in Los Angeles, I think you should do as I will and check out artist/character designer Martin Hsu’s five new works at the Hive Gallery. (Coincidence that he’s also showing 3 original paintings at my CRAZIANS! group art show at the WOW Gallery in Hollywood? Uh….No.)

What the heck are Mongrelz?

Mongrelz are the result of mass pollution. They’re highly evolved freaks of nature that are half land animal and half sea animal capable of surviving in any environment.

In the paintings you’ll find intimate interactions between these freaky creatures with kids and other critters. Soon everyone will learn that Mongrelz are not here to destroy, but to protect.

Holy crap. We’re all going to die! Oh wait, no, these creatures are one of the good guys. I love it.

Opening night is Saturday, July 5th from 8:00pm-12:30am at the Hive Gallery:

729 S. Spring St.
Los Angeles, CA. 90014

See you there! 🙂

About Moye

I am a Japanese-American girl who was born, raised and is most probably stuck in traffic right this second in Los Angeles. I'm currently one of the co-editors of 8Asians and like to distract myself with good food, reading long books, playing video games, catching up on celebrity news, choosing my new new haircut and then writing all about it on Hello Moye and sometimes here on Twitter if I can get it in under 140 words or less. You can reach me at moye[at]8asians.com.
