Nightline’s Behind the Scenes With Taiwan’s Next Media Animation

By now, I think everyone is pretty familiar with Taiwan’s Next Media Animation – or at least their animated news releases – the most famous being their recounting of Tiger Woods’ post-Thanksgiving car accident and subsequent scandal.

Last Friday, Nightline did an interesting behind the scenes look behind New Media Animation, including an interview with entrepreneur and founder Jimmy Lai and his goals to get a bigger slice of the news media pie worldwide. Although many of his news videos are often on events in the U.S., only 1 in 10 viewers is from the US, which I would guess were all via YouTube. New Media Animation says its takes about 3 hours to go from idea to final production. The company has a staff of over 200 people and an operation that works 24 x 7, 7 days a week.

Personally, I find the animations to be pretty funny (but I am easily amused). Some of my fellow 8Asian bloggers are not as much fans as I am. 🙁

About John

I'm a Taiwanese-American and was born & raised in Western Massachusetts, went to college in upstate New York, worked in Connecticut, went to grad school in North Carolina and then moved out to the Bay Area in 1999 and have been living here ever since - love the weather and almost everything about the area (except the high cost of housing...)
