America’s Best Dance Crew is back for their sixth season on MTV. This season’s all Asian crew and first ever all Taiwanese crew is Instant Noodles. The majority of them were actually born in the U.S. but grew up in Taiwan. After their performance this week during the Ke$ha Challenge, new judge Dtrix said that he did not like their routine at all and that they were predictable. I’ve seen this crew perform before at World of Dance 2010 in Pomona and wasn’t overly impressed compared to other b-boy crews. When I heard they were going to be on ABDC I was wondering if the audience would find them entertaining. Their first week performance didn’t come through for me and although they did end up in the bottom two, the judges saved them for at least one more performance. After Dtrix called them out and said that they were representing B-boys from around the world, I hope they come out and impress in their next performance.
On the other hand, my favorite crew on this season of America’s Best Dance Crew is IaMme. This crew features Di “Moon” Zhang (also originally from China) and Phillip “Pacman” Chbeeb who previously competed on So You Think You Can Dance. Moon has also said that one of his motivations for dancing is to be successful, especially as an Asian with disapproval from his father.
So what does everyone else think? Do you agree or disagree with Dtrix’s comments? Any other favorite crews this season that you think people should watch?
