“MEMORY SUCKS,” a New Poem by Beau Sia

Memories of past relationships are bittersweet objects that we’re not quite sure what to do with. If we could, we would erase these memories from ourselves because they are too painful to remember a la Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. But unfortunately, the fact that these times contain memories that gave us bliss and sunny-dripped happiness, are hard to separate from the bad times that resulted in the relationship to come to a hard end.

This is the feeling that this video captures perfectly. With the poem written by Beau Sia, video edited & shot by The Taqwacores director Eyad Zahra, and music composed by Dawen, this is perhaps one of the best poem videos I’ve seen in a long, long time.

So watch this video. Take it in. And whatever feelings you may get that comes from this video, cherish it for as it is (even if it’s painful) because these feelings are undeniable reminders that we truly exist in this world.

About Edward

Edward Hong is an actor and spoken poet. Passion to make a change in this world through the performing arts and activism defines his ongoing life and it is the struggle against all things unjust that gives him this passion to be one heck of a talkative, stubborn man. It, however, does not mean he strives to be a champion or role model of any community but to be the man who will be honest and say the things nobody will have the balls to say. He is the jester who is outspoken in what he believes in most passionately and therefore cannot be pinpointed that he will do what you expect him to do.
