Elizabeth Olsen Offered Female Lead In “Oldboy” Remake

Spike Lee’s Oldboy remake only had 45 percent of my support — and that was because they cast Josh Brolin in the lead role. My support for this film increased to about 70 percent when I learned that Elizabeth Olsen is circling the female lead.

Elizabeth (the Olsen sister who doesn’t dress like a Grey Gardens bag lady) is quite the talented thespian. She turned heads with her performance as a cult follower in the deliciously creepy Martha Marcy May Marlene and she tests her horror chops in the upcoming Silent House (directed by Chris Kentis and Laura Lau).

Now all we have to do is wait for confirmation on whether or not she pounces on the chance to be in this Park Chan-wook redux. If she doesn’t, my support will go back down to 45 percent. So that’s that.
