Springtime is coming, and that means one particular thing: spring cleaning! Out with the old and in with the new—and that goes for your wardrobe too. While you’re switching out wool coats for light jackets, don’t forget about updating your shoes.
We love the shoes from New York-based company 80%20. The line’s designer and founder, Ce Ce Chin, is a Calvin Klein and Michael Kors veteran, and these shoes carry a similar sense of simplicity and style. 80%20 is named for Chin’s observation of wardrobe utilization: we wear only about twenty percent of what we own, eighty percent of the time. Even if you end up wearing these shoes eighty percent of the time, they are so fabulous that no one will get tired of them.
Originally, the shoes focused on a sneaker concept, but the line’s signature hidden wedge style has evolved into more feminine and sophisticated, yet still casual, silhouettes. As Chin puts it, they are shoes for the girl who wants to go from daytime appointments to cocktails, and still “be able to ride her bike home”.
The picture above shows the Palaces & Pyramids wedges ($138), available online from Anthropologie. More styles from the upcoming spring collection, including peep-toe penny loafers and suede ankle boots, can be found at Solestruck.
