Having started dating when I was a sweet young thing of 17, I realized something: I only ever dated Asian people. Maybe it stems from the fact that the dating pool at my high school was predominantly Asian, but this trend continued when I went off to college. Sure, there are far more non-Asians there. But looking back on it I think that they are the only ones who understand me. They’ve had Tiger Moms, violin lessons, piano lessons, SAT prep lessons, college prep sessions, math flashcards during dinner…the list goes on.
