Two memes meet and create a bastard child that is surprisingly fun and funny for fans of both Psy and the Philippine prison dancers.
Despite heavy rain, the prisoners were enthusiastic to make their own impression of the Gangnam dance. This meme won’t be going away any time soon given that it’s already the most watched video of all time on YouTube and plenty of parodies and homages are appearing daily, in addition to radio airplay worldwide.
For those unfamiliar with the Philippine prison dancers, they have been YouTube mainstays since their cover of Michael Jackson’s Thriller five years ago.
The prison dance crew remains active, even inspiring an interactive web musical featured earlier this year in March on 8asians.
