PBS’s The Mind of a Chef With David Chang

Watch The Mind of a Chef – Preview on PBS. See more from PBS.

Before the election, I caught ‘celebrity’ chef David Chang was also on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, where he mentioned that he would have a new PBS television series. It seems like Fallon is a big fan of Chang’s, since he’s been on several times in the past, including discussing his fried chicken and the launch of his new magazine, Lucky Peach.

After I caught the Fallon bit, I caught an even more in-depth article on Chang and his TV series in the Times:

“The well-mannered world of PBS food shows will get a jolt on Friday with the national premiere of “The Mind of a Chef,” a 16-episode series about the culinary inspirations and obsessions of David Chang, the young (35) and unfiltered chef and impresario of the Momofuku restaurants. … What it is, [executive producer] Mr. Bourdain hopes, is a new type of cooking show, a kind of intellectual biography. “We’re exploring the creative process, the anatomy of a style of cooking,” he said. “Not just what inspired this dish, but where did it come from, what are they thinking about, what’s intriguing to them. How did we get here? The end result is often the end of a long story, and from early on we’ve been looking at David Chang’s food as part of a long and very interesting story.”

The show premiered this past Friday, November 9th, but it looks like you can watch the show online here.
