On our way back up to Taipei from southern Taiwan on the bullet train, we made a quick stop in central Taiwan to check out the Baguashan Buddha. It was a cloudy day and the afternoon light was on the wane, but as a result, we got a spectacular view.
A walk up a set of wide path steps lined with statues leads to the large buddha statue peaking over the trees beyond.
I’d been to this statue at various stages in my life with family, especially because some live in the area, but this massive statue always succeeds in inspiring some awe in me.
The complex around it is also provides quite an ambience as well as many photo ops.
Much like a Statue of Liberty type of experience, you can actually go inside the Buddha statue itself, and there are aunties there selling prayer items and many figures that depict the life of Sakiyamuni.
Last up, leaving Taiwan.
