CNN: Din Tai Fung Is Taiwan’s Tasty Export

I’m not sure when this CNN news segment aired, since the video link mentions it was added on March 18th, but I just caught the CNN.com blog post about my favorite restaurant, Din Tai Fung and their world famous xiao long bao pork dumplings.

The segment tells of Din Tai Fung’s humble origins to its Michelin ratings. The founder originally sold cooking oil, and then added dumplings – but the dumplings surpassed the oil in popularity and thus, a restaurant was born. There are now over 71 Din Tai Fung restaurants around the world in Taiwan, Asia, and the United States. One of my dreams is to own a Din Tai Fung franchise! Too bad the only Din Tai Fung’s in the U.S. are in Arcadia, California and Bellevue, Washington.
